There is a game this week, and it's a doozy! Early on this season, the Chargers were having trouble winning games (though they were close) but they just put a hurtin' on our division rivals, The Patriots, last weekend, and they come to Buffalo with tons of swagger. And talent. Let's hope they also come to town with lots of jet lag, and find out the Bills are quite ready to put their first loss of the season behind them.

Greg does the show solo tonight due to some scheduling snafus, so it's short and sweet. Greg did join the BoltTalk podcast guys for a bit last night, too though, so if you want to hear some more Bills talk, head on over to their podcast at bolttalk.

Buffalo Bills strong safety, Donte Whitner, joins us for a special episode of the Buffalo Bills Review to talk Bills football, and his Team20 Foundation. Whitner is doing some great stuff with inner city kids, and kids in single-parent homes in his home town of Cleveland, around Buffalo, and even as far away as West Africa.

We asked Donte about draft day a couple years ago when he was picked 8th overall (to the shock of many Bills fans!) and how this team has come together since then, enough that prior to the 2008 campaign, Whitner guaranteed his team would make its first post-season appearance. You can tell he is very excited about this year's Bills. And for good reason.

Well, the Buffalo Bills could not equal their starts of 1991 or 1980 or even 1964, but they are still 4-1 going into the bye week. And maybe most importantly, Trent Edwards should be just fine. It was fairly obvious the impact he has on the entire Bills team as after standing and delivering a perfect pass to James Hardy for a first down (with an unblocked defender running straight at him) he left the game, and so did our chances of competing.

The last time our team was 4-0 was 1992. (Yes, I know... same as the last 3-0.) That is a long, LONG time to wait for just four little wins. But four wins is four wins. The Bills are now also 2-0 on the road for the first time since 1994. A lot of firsts this season, and they just keep coming. The opponents are certainly not making it easy - AT ALL - but our Bills have now come from behind for the third straight week to be 4-0 atop the NFL!

It's a great time to be a Buffalo Bills fan! The Bills are 3-0 for the first time since 1992, and alone atop the AFC East for the first time since week 13 of 1996! (Whoa!) It's a strange place to be as a Bills fan. Our team is winning games going away, winning tight battles against good teams, and even winning games they "don't deserve" to win - like this last one!

This young team has a few players who are emerging as real leaders (with talent) and they are playing as a unit, and that seems to really be working. Trent Edwards is proving to be mature way "beyond his years", Donte Whitner is the "Team Dad" (according to John), and Marcus Stroud assured his teammates that good teams win games like this.

They were right.

Our Buffalo Bills are leading the AFC East division at 2-0. And not a cheesy 2-0. A very well earned 2-0 against teams who were in last season's playoffs. This last win in Jacksonville was especially great as the Bills were underdogs, and had to overcome several things to pull of a comeback win - but they did! Wow!

In stark contrast to last NFL season, the Buffalo Bills are mostly injury-free. The same is not true of their opponents. First it was Seattle who came into The Ralph a bit wounded, and left more wounded. (Burleson is out for the season now!) Then it was the news of Bills arch nemesis, Tom Brady, being injured for the entire 2008 season. And next week, the Bills face a Jaguars team who is missing four of their offensive linemen to injuries! Not a good way to start the season!

But the Bills are mostly healthy, and looked GREAT in their opening game!

We have another special episode of the Buffalo Bills Review! Former Bills place kicker, Steve Christie, joins us to talk Bills football: past, present, and future! Steve tells a few stories from earlier in his playing career, obviously we talked about kicking the winning FG in "The Comeback", and we discussed the pros and cons - and what has worked and what hasn't - with the "Toronto Initiative". Interesting thoughts from the Oakville, Ontario native.

Steve has always been a big supporter of Camp Good Days and Special Times, including an annual kicking camp he does in Rochester at St. John Fisher College. I also discovered (post-interview) that he is an artist. I followed link from the Camp Good Days page and found a whole website full of fun Steve Christie stuff!

We have another BBR special episode for you this week! Greg, Dave and John got to talk with Chazz and Shaw of the Ball Burglars. We talk about Ball Burglar, secret code names, and of course... Buffalo Bills football!

The Ball Burglar is a mysterious Bills fan who decided he would offer to get Mr. Wilson's football back for him (it says "Wilson" right on the football...) if people would donate money to help sick kids in exchange for his services. This was back in 2004, and in one year (2003-2004) the Bills went from worst to first in takeaways! Nice job, Ball Burglar!

The Ball Burglars keep growing in number, and in donations. This year they are partnering with Jim Kelly and Hunter's Hope with a special challenge from Jim. Any Bills Backers chapter who collectively raises over $10,000 gets a chance to have Jim and Thurman Thomas - two Bills Hall of Famers! - visit their regular chapter meeting. Not a bad deal!

Fun show, and a great way to add even more fun to watching Bills football, and help out some sick kids and their families at the same time.
