071211 :: "Playoffs???" [Show 3.19]

[stream] MP3
"Playoffs??? Are you kiddin' me? Playoffs???" Just a little (appropriate) Jim Mora quote there to start us off. This week the Bills continued to improve their chances for their first trip to the post season since 1999! It's not set in stone yet, but if they win the rest of their games - starting with this week in Cleveland - they will be in very good shape!

I agree completely with DAVE. How can John Mark even like the Patriots? Who cares how well they're doing - does this guy even GET football?
I also agree with John D. that if the SB comes down to the Pats and the Cowgirls... I won't even bother turning it on. We'll have a SuperBowl party and watch "WaterBoy" or something...
I have a story that's sad and unrelated: When I was shopping last weekend, I saw this family. The dad had a Dallas jersey and hat on and the son had a Pats jersey & hat and I disdained them immediately. All I could think was that the son was an obvious product of the media's adoration of the Pats. It's so unfortunate how bad kids these days have it. Some are getting into the Patriots and ruining their lives. We need to pray for this generation that they don't fall into the hands of the enemy.
Also, how great would the irony be if the Pats go winless through the regular season and choke after their bye in the playoffs. oh, I would love that.
I mean.... "win every game" .. you know what i mean.
Spaztic,
I, like you and all other Bills fans, can not fathom anyone who is truly a Bills fan publicly professing their love for any other division rival, most notably the whiny, cheating Patsies. John said there are only a couple exceptions he could think of... a VERY CLOSE relative on the team, or being from that town or something.
As for the ironic possibilities... here are my top three.
1) Pats lost to the Dolphins. This would be SO great except, it would also be nice to not have to see the 1972 Dolphins break out the champagne EVER again.
2) Pats go 16-0, and lose the first round as you suggested.
3) Pats go 16-0, make the Super Bowl, and then lose BADLY to either Brett Farve and the Pack or Adrian Peterson and his 234 rushing yards for the previously 0-4 in the Super Bowl Vikes!
Of course, Tom Brady going down and the Pats losing their final three games wouldn't be bad either. :-)
I'm afraid that losing in the super bowl would only give them fire for next season. Then we'd have an early 90's Bills scenario happening as they have the 2nd pick in next year's draft, so.... as fun as it'd be to watch them lose the super Bowl, I don't want to have there be any comparisons between our Bills & the Pats... it's just not fair to them.
I'm going to say they lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs with either Brady or Bruschi being carted off the field on a bodyboard when they're down by a few TDs to give their fans an excuse for why they lost.
Go Bills! Play TE!
I also, am a closet Chargers fan. Also, I lived out in LA when John Butler brought Flutie, Christie, and half the good Bills to San Diego (2001 season). Actually, Marcellus Wiley got me great tickets down near the field at a home game vs. Denver. I loved watching Chargers games and we actually went to watch Rob Johnson and the Bills play Doug Flutie and the Chargers. MW sacked Rob Johnson twice and I was loving it. How fitting it was that Flutie won the game on some last minute magic while Rob Johnson could only rub his headband and cry while Gregg Williams hair began streaking white.
I HATED Rob Johnson even though I love the Bills, I wanted him to get sacked like a million times that year. I always thought that was a bad transaction, but anyway.. In my closet, I still have a Flutie Chargers jersey to remind me of the good times when I cheered for my West Coast Bills.
btw, sorry to bogart the comment board, but did you see the news on Fairchild? I wrote on the BBR FaceBook wall, but I didn't know if you'd seen it yet.
He won't be with the Bills next season, so he won't have to be fired! Start pontificating on who will be the next OC for Buffalo.
