Whoa. Whoa, whoa, whoa. OK, last week I said a win is a win, but sometimes a loss is not just a loss. It's a demise. The Bills did a lot to lose the game today, but Chicago likewise did a LOT to win. Amazing.

You thought that the "fake punt" call was acceptable. Are you kidding? We are playing a 4-0 team with a dominant defense and your on the 40 yard line. Even if you do make it; yeah we were driving but its the Bears; their defense is amazing. We might have gotten a field goal from that. Also, the Bears have an offense. They can points on the board and starting at their own 40 yard line is a huge advantage to Chicago. The reason we aren't good in short yardage is because our o-line gives us problems. They always have and this year is no different.
Hey Matt, Greg here. Yes, I actually called for the fake punt on 4th and 1. Obviously the smart thing to do so early in the game is to punt the ball. SO, that's the perfect place to try the fake. We're at their 40... to far for the FG, but not in too bad a spot if the play doesn't work. Definitely a good idea.
It's easy to look back after a play doesn't work and say, "What a terrible call!!!" But I am not just defending the call by the coaches... I actually predicted/called for it myself.
So, yeah... right time, right place on the field for that play. Too bad it didn't work! :-(
But how could that be the right place on the field against the Bears at Soldier Field. Why not, since we have a Pro Bowl punter, put them inside their own 10 or 5. We have to put the Bears in the position where they aren't comfortable, which is near their own endzone. If that play doesn't work, and it did't, they get the ball at their 40! Yea we can say that the play was bad because it didn't work, but i thought because it was so early in the game, we have the punter that we do, and we were playing the Bears, that that was a dumb call.
I really could go either way. I totally see it both ways. That's a strange area of the field. And actually, I don't think anything you do on the first drive determines the outcome of the game. There's a LOT more football to be played.
